Third Officer
Duties & Responsibilities:
THIRD OFFICER - The Third Officer is the ship's documentation and safety officer. His duties and responsibilities are as follows:
1.28 Ship documentation

Assists in the preparation of the following ship / crew documents upon Master’s instructions: a) Crew List b) Ship’s Deck Store List; c) Other documents required by the port state authorities;

Maintains the files of the aforementioned documents and the maintenance records of all safety equipment;
1.29 Safety Functions
- Performs watchkeeping duties at sea and in port
- Takes charge of the maintenance and inspection of all firefighting and life-saving equipment and reports immediately any defects to the Chief Mate and the Master
- Ensures that the validity dates of all safety equipment have not expired
- Makes requisitions for the purchase, repair and / or replacement of safety equipment
- Ensures that luminous direction guides inside the accommodation spaces are in place according to SOLAS requirements
- Updates the ship’s Emergency Muster List and the crew’s station cards
1.30 Shipboard office supplies and equipment
- Maintains running inventory and takes physical custody of shipboard office supplies
- Reports to the Chief Mate office supplies to be purchased or replenished
1.31 Entering and leaving a port
- Stations himself at the post assigned to him by the Master and execute Master’s lawful orders
- As officer on watch, checks that all crew members are on board prior to departure
1.32 In port
- Performs cargo duties as may be directed by the Chief Mate
- Assists the Second Officer in testing the navigational and radio equipment then reports his findings to the Second Officer
- Coordinates with the Chief Engineer regarding main engine testing
1.33 Performs other functions as may be directed by the Master or the Chief Officer

- BSC with PSSR
- Deck/Engine watch keeping (for Apprentice and Deck Ratings)

- Birth Certificate of Child (If have)
- Cedula/Community Tax Certificate
- NBI Clearance
- QDC/COC
- Medical Certificate (Accredited by Marina/DOH)
- SSS Number/E1 Form
- TIN Number
- Crowd and Crisis Management
- Safe Navigation and Collision Regulation
- Radar Observer Course
- Radar Simulator Course
- Authenticated PRC Certificate and I.D.
- Age Limit: 45 years old for 3rd Mate
